Who were the best of the best among the State Cup girls olders? XK Soccer News polled the coaches involved and came up with the talent that stood out most.

Here are the girls honorees:

First Team:

Cynthia Alonzie
Real Madrid G91
Alonzie (Granite Hills HS), the Division IV Player of the Year in high school, scored the game-winner in the title game.

Jackie Altschuld – Real So Cal Black

The leading goal-scorer throughout the tournament for her team. She scored the team's lone goal in its double-overtime loss in the finals.

Hannah Barresi – Vaqueros GU-18

Barresi scored the winning goal in the first 15-minute OT period of the championship game to lift her team to the title.

Kara Koeneke – DMCV Sharks 89 White

Koeneke scored the team’s only goal in the quarterfinals and both goals in the semifinals to help her team reach the title game.

Makenna Krakowsky – Valley United

Only a freshman, Krakowsky (Campbell Hall HS) plays up a year and was the sweeper for the State Cup champions. “She was phenomenal,” Coach Marty Rackham said.

Sarah McNitt-Gray – Westside Breakers 90 White
McNitt-Gray (Marlborough HS) scored the game-winner in both the semifinals and the championship game.

Megan Morganstern – So Cal Rush G93 Nike

Captain of the State Cup champs, she played with two hurt ankles and a hurt knee to carry her team. “She plays with a lot of heart,” Coach Gilmar Lara said.

Vanessa Paredes – PVSC Exiles Red GU-15
Coach Paul Rottenberg noted that Paredes controlled the middle and was the team’s engine on its run to the title game.

The DMCV Sharks' Kara Koeneke.
Hanna Sanchez – America United Blue GU-14
Sanchez was outstanding in goal, allowing just two goals in seven State Cup games. “She was brilliant in every game,” said Coach Luis Murillo.

Hannah Wilson – Matrix SC Black GU-16

“She shut down everybody’s top forward and was a big part of our attack,” said Coach Marcus Gomez of Wilson.

Hannah Zech – CFC United GU-17

Zech posted four shutouts in the team's six games and allowed only three goals total. Came up big time after time.

HONORABLE MENTION
:

Melissa Andersen - PVSC Exiles Red GU-15
Led the team in scoring, including both of the team’s goals in the title game.

Nicole Brait – Real So Cal Black GU-14

“She played fearlessly with a cast on her hand, suffering from ligament damage in her thumb,” said Coach Gabby Zembo. “She made considerable contributions and was very tough.”

Katie Dillon – SCV Magic Yellow GU-16

“She played at a high level and was difference-maker in every game we played,” said Coach Lucas Bongarra.

Courtney Garrity – CFC United GU-17

Garrity (Fountain Valley HS) was the leading goal-scorer for CFC on its run to the State Cup title game.

Rebecca Gold – Westside Breakers White 90

GK Gold (Beverly Hills HS) played through a knee injury and posted three shutouts, including one in the championship game.

Alex Lonsda – Matrix SC Black GU-16

“A workhorse in the middle,” said Coach Marcus Gomez on Lonsda (Riverside Poly HS). “She controlled the flow and would also jump into our attack.”
Hannah Zech of CFC United.

Brianna Ramirez – Fullerton Rangers Blue
Ramirez was an offensive force, leading her team in goals in the State Cup.

Katelyn Rogers – America United Blue GU-14

Scored six goals total, including both of the goals in the team’s championship victory. “She somehow always found a way to get the ball into the net,” said Coach Murillo.

Sasha Rodriguez – Real Madrid G91

“A big part of our offense in every game,” Coach Mike Blay said. Rodriguez (Sultana HS) scored a goal in the title-game victory.

Emily Streb – Valley United GU-16

Streb (Cleveland HS) played at a top level throughout State Cup, according to Coach Marty Rackham.

Carlsbad Lightning GU18 Red
We honor the entire team since it played three double-overtime games, including the finals, with only 11 players yet still almost came away with a title. Each player averaged over two hours of play without a reserve in the final three games.
