Soccer Player Spotlight: NOMADS players earn MVP honors at University of California
Parker Hayward and Roman Martin were named Co-Most Valuable Players (MVPs) at the University of California at Berkeley's soccer camp this 2010 summer season.
The camp was held at Underhill Field on UC Berkeley's campus from July 26 - 30. In large part, the five-day training schedule focused on player development and assessment in three core areas: technical skills, tactical decision-making and speed of play. Hayward and Martin both play competitive soccer for the U14 Nomads team in San Diego and are coached by Paul Holohan.
"Top to bottom, Coach Grimes runs a great program and it's good to see these young men excel at Cal. Both Parker and Roman trained hard this summer and registered great performances at several college camps -- I'm proud of them," said Holohan.
Earlier this summer, Parker attended a youth development camp at Santa Clara University, and Roman trained on the East coast at Clemson University, where he was named MVP. See SN article on Roman Martin MVP
